Decree has been designed to bring simplicity into your daily skincare routine. Our serums and moisturisers can be used on the face, neck and eye area, removing the need to duplicate products for the eye area.

sometimes changing a skincare routine results in your  skin going through a 6 week remodelling and repair phase, we call this ‘skin purging’. When you are using detoxifying and reparative products, excess oil, bacteria and damaged pigment etc has nowhere to go but to come up and out of the skin. Skin sometimes needs to go backwards in order to go forwards. It’s a bit like when we go on a detox for our body. We may feel worse before we feel better, as the toxins leave our system. If your skin feels tight using the range, firstly use the Peptide Emollient Veil every few hours to aid skin barrier hydration. Avoid your Weekly Decree and other exfoliant products until the tightness has settled.

Decree has been designed to be multitasking and suitable for all ages and skin types. The products have been tested on sensitive skin too. Decree products are designed to work in synergy with one another, boosting the skin benefits of the product used before and the one used after it. There is always a chance that mixing different skincare brands together can lead  to an interaction. Our products contain strong actives. If you feel that your skin is sensitive, as a customer of Decree we will ask you to send in details of the products you are using on your skin. Dr AJ Sturnham and Team Decree can review to see where the issues may be and make suggestions about tweaking your regimen, to improve things. If your skin feels sensitive, we always recommend pressing pause on the exfoliation steps, so stop using the once weekly intensive exfoliating Decree treatment and increase the use of your Peptide Emollient Veil.

If you get a product in your eyes and it stings, rinse thoroughly with cool water until the stinging subsides.

Most retinol products can cause some dryness and sensitivity, making them a less popular/ suitable choice over the summer. The great news is that we use a next generation retinoid in our Decree Treat Tincture, which binds straight to the retinoid receptors in your skin, without needing to be metabolised first. Alcohol is often added to skincare to act as a preservative and to stabilise a formulation. At Decree we have worked hard to create formulations that avoid the use of drying alcohols. These types of alcohols are typically added to toner products, as they degrease the skin and feel refreshing during use. They can strip the skin of its hydrating lipids with prolonged use. Look for Ingredients on your labels such as denatured alcohol and Isopropyl alcohol.

It can be confusing for the consumer as there are other types of alcohols used in skincare called ‘fatty alcohols’, which are non-irritating and can actually be beneficial for your skin. Examples you’ll see on ingredient labels include cetyl, stearyl, and cetearyl alcohol. All of these are good ingredients for dry skin, and in small amounts fine for any skin type as they give a pleasing texture and help keep ingredients stable in products. It’s important to discern these skin-friendly forms of alcohol from the problematic types of alcohol. When formulating Decree we have worked hard to eliminate drying alcohols in favour of skin friendly ingredients  instead.

Botanical extracts are obtained in a similar way and the plant based essence is extracted and used for its aromatic properties. Fragrance and volatile essential oils are cheaper to manufacture and often used in skincare ranges. We avoid these due to the irritant possibilities and allergenic nature of fragrance.
